I agree that sadly any candidate coming out and saying "I'm for gay marriage!" would hurt their chances of being elected. But what irks me is that this is even an issue for us! Our Constitution is founded on a separation of church and state, and that seems to be forgotten or out-and-out ignored on issues ranging from gay marriage, stem cell research, a women's right to choose, teaching evolution in schools, prayer in schools, etc. And being religious - a "reason" given by many to condemn gay marriage - is equated with being ethical, which is NOT TRUE. I'm 100% for gay marriage as well, and all states and governments should recognize it legally. If a church, tempel. synagoge, mosque, etc., won't marry gay couples, that is their choosing and not a governmental issue. That being said, if I were a member of these places of worship, I'd be talking to their members and leaders to change their minds. It's the 21st century already - enough with the prejudice!

Interesting post. I think I'm the "finisher" type of developer you're talking about. I'm very detail oriented. I even enjoy creating (or finding somebody to create) the icon, creating the DMG or installer, worrying about usability testing, etc.

My interest in coding is also in solving a problem, but it's the problem of human-computer interaction. I totally enjoy writing the interface, and lose interest when I get bogged down in "the guts of the solution." I couldn't care less about twiddling bits with code.

Good to hear Dave. Though I do wonder if that had more to do with you being in Italy than my feedback :)

They did pick up a few of your suggestions for the presentation in Italy. We had tables as well as chairs, and a buffet-style lunch. But at least you had a 56K modem. One part of the presentation couldn't be done because not even the presenter had internet access.

I agree the event was worthwhile for those of us that couldn't make it to WWDC. I'm excited about getting my hands on Leopard now.

When will we stop labeling, segregating, and pulling each other apart by race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, skin color, religious/non-religious beliefs, bank accounts - you name it? We are all human beings; we share this Earth with other species and ecosystems. We are citizens of this planet - ENOUGH SAID. Stop pulling people apart and start working together to make this a more sustainable planet. So much wasted energy...

I'm weirdly tempted by the orange one as well: I want it more than I wanted the silver one when it was the only option.

I thought I was above such shallow fashion considerations. I was wrong :)

Good luck! It looks like stores are starting to get them in more often so hopefully you won't have to wait as long as we did!

Thanks Christy. So far even with as many as three squirrels out there we haven't seen the feeder be compromised. The only damage they have done is to leave teeth marks in the top around the hanger. That's teeth marks through the paint and in the metal! They largely seem to have given up. we are getting a good variety of birds including cardinals, goldfinch, chickadees, nuthatches, titmouse, and some bird that only pokes around on the ground that looks like a junko but could be the winter color of some other bird. The cardinals go for the black sunflower seed and the titmouse seem to prefer peanuts. We got a nice mix from the store in Somersworth in the plaza with Uno.

I just love this picture. I got one of these feeders for Christmas. You will have to tell me the tricks to it. I was thinking about getting a squirrel guard to put on top. My mom has been feeding the birds for years and says they help keep the rain out too. Hopefully keep the squirrels out as well. Although the squirrels do seem to liven it up a bit, hopefully they don't knock it off. I hope I can get as many birds as you. Sounds like you have quite the variety. I'm hoping for some cardinals. Maybe you can send some my way :)

The font size is dictated by the theme I am using and since I've not paid for the ability to edit the CSS I can't change it while the blog is hosted by wordpress.com. This is only a temporary home, but I will keep the comment font size in mind when I do make the move to a different provider.
